Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility

NOVA's Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is a highly structured, therapeutic environment for dually diagnosed adolescents, ages 13-18 in need of intensive services to treat substance use and mental health disorders, along with severe emotional and behavioral problems. The PRTF functions under a medical model following a comprehensive assessment of developmental, therapeutic and educational needs. An individualized treatment plan for each adolescent is developed, coordinated and supervised by licensed clinicians and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, MD. The PRTF treatment experience includes individual, family, and group therapy, onsite nursing, continuing educational goals onsite at NOVA's Alternative School, Yoga and Pet Therapy.


             The PRTF treatment goals include the following:

  • Attaining Sobriety and Social Competence
  • Stablizing Mental Health and Utilizing Coping Skills 
  • Accepting Responsibility
  • Functioning in Goup and Community Settings
  • Attaining Academic Grade Levels in Core Subjects
  • Working Toward Improving Relationships with Families, Peers, Teachers and Others
