Adult Residential Services
NOVA operates two adult treatment programs that serve males and females from 19 years of age. The longer term Therapeutic Community (TC) program serves individuals typically diagnosed with personality disorders with substance use disorders. The Short Term Residential (STR) program serves individuals diagnosed with co-occurring severe mental illness with substance dependence as outlined in the DSM IV (Diagnostic Statistical Manual). The length of stay for each program is determined through ongoing assessment on an individualized basis. The typical length of stay for the TC is approximately 4 to 6 months and the typical length of stay for the STR program is approximately 30 days.
Referrals for the TC program are made through a variety of sources, including self-referral, family members, hospitals, clergy, law enforcement, parole/probations, physicians, etc. Referrals for the STR program are made through the Region 6 Clinical Review Team (CRT).
NOVA also provides STR services to individuals with a referral through the Criminal Justice program directed by the Nebraska Probation Management Information System and a 30 to 60 day program with referrals from Federal Pretrial Services.
All adult programs follow the Therapeutic Community model and are supported by licensed or provisionally licensed mental health practitioners (LMHP/PLMHP) or licensed or provisionally licensed drug and alcohol counselors (LADC/PLADC) with the support of paraprofessional staff.
Adult Residential Services are located at 3483 Larimore Avenue, Omaha, NE 68111. For information or admissions, please contact Teresa Bunjer at (402) 455-8347 or admissions@novatc.org.
